People leading Indiba-AfricaIndiba-Africa personnel have expertise in the field of human rights and organisational development, and have been drawn from the ranks of legal professionals, arbitrators, academics, business and human resource management, communication, social sciences, corporate social responsibility, accountants and auditors and information technology Michelle is Indiba-Africa's Chairperson and has extensive management experience in organisation development and change management, strategy development, project and programme management and capacity development initiatives within the CSO, government and private sectors. She has worked locally and internationally on donor-funded projects aimed at improving service delivery, enhancing good governance, design and implementation of strategies for the sustainability of development initiatives. Michelle has also supported a variety of cross-sectoral women's rights iniatives and has particular experience within the HIV/AIDS, Education, Justice, Human Rights, Peace and Development sectors. She holds BALLB qualifications from the University of KwaZulu Natal and is an admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, is a senior arbitrator with the South Africa Local Government Bargaining Council (SALGBC) and is actively involved in a variety of professional associations. She is personally committed to strengthening and enhancing gender equality, poverty reduction, accelerated social change and the entrenchment of the rights of women in Africa. She has recently been appointed as Director of Agenda Anil is Indiba-Africa's Managing Director. He is an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, and worked in widening rural access to justice in South Africa for seven years before being appointed Southern African regional coordinator for the Adilisha Project in December 2000. Anil is the former Executive Director of Fahamu SA (he remains a Trustee of Fahamu SA). He also founded and was the first convenor of the KwaZulu Natal Human Rights Forum. Anil is the former Chairperson of Artists for Human Rights Trust. He currently Chairs, the South African Coalition for an International Criminal Court, the Open Door AIDS Centre and Art for Humanity. He is also a board member of the Participatory Development Initiative. Anil has lead CSO delegations to a Non-Alligned Movement summit, a Commonwealth Summit, the World Council of Churches summit and many UN PrepComm meetings on the ICC in Rome and New York. Anil has also provided services to the South African Development Community (SADC) as a regional expert on the ICC. He has worked closely with many African CSOs and governments, as well as CSOs beyond the African region. More recently, he has been appointed by the Mayor of Nantes, France, to the Executive Committee of the World Forum on Human Rights, as well as to the Jury Committee for the international human rights recognition award, "Prix de l'Edit de Nantes". Anil has had responsibility while at Fahamu for an impact assessment of C S Mott sponsored CLRDC rural paralegal advice and resource centres in KwaZulu Natal, an assessment of CBOs in Southern Africa and is currently working on a rural survey on development needs and SMS usage for development in rural KwaZulu Natal. This forms part of Fahamu's UmNyango Project, which is being implemented by Indiba-Africa. He was also appointed Team Leader for a ten-day assessment of the South African Human Rights Commission's outreach work. She has worked in the CSO sector for 5 years. The Midlands Women's Group builds and supports women's organisations at grassroots level. MWG also works within the broader context of the struggle for women's rights nationally and participates in projects of the National Women's Coalition and the Commission on Gender Equality. Nareshnie also serves as the Chairperson for Gunfree SA-KZN and is also a member of the Steering committee for the National Office. On behalf of Fahamu, she tutors a distance learning course called " Financial Management for non-financial managers". Participants successfully completing this course receive certificates of attendance from Oxford University and certificates of completion from Fahamu. John is a Mozambican. He is a civil society consultant and activist. He specialises in CSO project monitoring and evaluation, electoral process monitoring and observation, leadership and training, rural participatory assessments and has a key sense of CSOs in Mozambique. He is Project Coordinator of the InterAction Pan African Leadership Programme for the British Council in Mozambique. Monica is from Guyana and lives and works in Sweden. She is a management and communications consultant and social science researcher based in Sweden. She works with strategic communication and research within corporate social responsibility for the energy industry in Sweden and has also worked on a number of occasions as a freelance consulting expert, evaluating information society technology projects for the European Commission. In addition to her consultancy work, Monica is also an active volunteer with Amnesty Business Group in Sweden. Monica has a BA Combined Honours from Queen Mary, University of London, an MBA from Henley Management College in the UK and is currently completing an MSc in Social Research Methods at the Open University in the UK. She is a member of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), a member of the Association for Qualitative Research, UK (AQR) and an associate member of the Market Research Society, UK (MRS). Monica is married to a South African and travels regularly to South Africa. Maria is from Uganda, currently furthering her studies in South Africa. She is a consultant and an expert in governance, human rights, resource material production, gender and development discourse, constitutionalism and regional integration. Maria is a persuasive individual possessing strong oral, written communication and listening skills. She also has expertise in contract and relationship negotiations. Maria has proven ability in management issues and demonstrable ability to evaluate and monitor programs and organisations as well re-engineering organisations for strategic focus. She is a skilled and trained facilitator and trainer. Her diverse skills include organisational development, finance and management of non-financial managers, monitoring and reporting on human rights violations, CSO governance, advocacy, strategic planning, gender analysis, alternative dispute resolution, civic education and team building skills. Ntokozo is a South African. He is a Senior Researcher with the Maurice Webb Race Relations Unit at the University of KwaZulu Natal. Ntokozo's expertise lies in project and human resource management, proposal writing, data management and processing (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), report writing and is a skilled proof reader and editor of reports. He is currently completing his Masters in Social Sciences at the University of KwaZulu Natal. |
